Joseph Fisher is a PhD student in the Department of Religion at Columbia University studying transhumanism and the history of the digital human. Joseph’s research is centrally concerned with identifying and analyzing the ways in which technological and scientific discourses have and continue to determine changing definitions of human being. He earned a B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College in Religious Studies before earning an M.A. and M.Phil in Religion at Columbia University. Joseph is inspired by the ways in which technologies, real and imagined, reveal porous boundaries between ostensibly religious and secular discourses.
