Mahmood Gharavi

Mahmood Gharavi is a Ph.D. student in Religion at Columbia University. Previously he received a Master's in Theological Studies at Harvard Divinity School and bachelor degrees in Religious Studies and Philosophy at the University of Virginia. His research focuses on scriptural exegesis and Shīʻī intellectual history, as well as the transmission of ḥadīth, texts, and ideas across pre-modern Muslim traditions and communities. He is a founding member of the Muslim Worlds Manuscript Cataloging Project through Columbia's Rare Book & Manuscript Library, and currently serves as a Teaching Observation Fellow at the University's Center for Teaching and Learning.
