René Chestnut is an M.A. candidate who has been researching a redacted version of the King James Bible used to keep slaves subjugated during the early 19th century in the British West-India Islands, now known as the Caribbean. How would it change your perception of Christianity to read a Bible that didn’t contain the story of Moses freeing the Israelites from Egypt? Her interests include the impact of Christianity on race, ethnicity, traditions, and the everyday lives of Black folk. She is currently working on a book about this redacted Bible, colloquially known as the Slave Bible.
